In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Colleen Lanki, Vancouver-based nihon buyoh dancer and noh theatre performer, choreographer, educator, and artistic director of TomoeArts.
Her final work was a beautiful dance video set to the Tang-dynasty piece, Goshōraku 五常楽 (Wuchangyue 五常樂) created in collaboration with the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble. The video was edited by Yasu Okada, with music reconstructed by Professor Steven Nelson from Hosei University based on early Heian-period musical notations. Colleen’s passion for theatre and teaching, and her dedication to being a bridge between the East and the West will always be remembered.
With the support of the BC Arts Council and the Canada Arts Council , the Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society presents: A Fractal Exploration of Chinese Music by Alan Lau 2022
