Traditional Chinese Music Classes in Vancouver

Chinese Music Classes

The Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble is made up of professional musicians who have spent decades mastering traditional Chinese instruments, including the erhu, dizi, guzheng, sheng, and suona. As part of preserving and passing on these musical traditions, many of our musicians offer private lessons and mentorship to dedicated students interested in learning Chinese instrumental music.

Because these teachers are highly respected performers and many continue to actively perform, private classes can be difficult to get into, and availability may be limited. The best way to inquire about lessons is often the traditional way, by meeting musicians in person at one of our concerts or free community workshops throughout Vancouver. Building personal connections has always been an important part of how Chinese music is passed between generations.

Students are also welcome to reach out by email, though response times may vary depending on rehearsal and performance schedules.
