May marks Asian Heritage Month across Canada—a time when Vancouver comes alive with vibrant festivals, powerful performances, and meaningful community initiatives. This year's celebrations carry special significance as we honour both the joy of our cultures and the resilience forged through hardship.

Our city remembers the tragic events of the Lapu Lapu festival and the great loss in Vancouver's Filipino community. This heartbreaking event shook our neighborhoods, yet in its wake, we witnessed the incredible strength of Vancouver's Asian communities coming together—organizing vigils, fundraising for the families, and demanding safer streets for all.

This month, we channel that spirit of resilience into celebrations that uplift and unite us.
