Wrapped in snake skin, Hu’s are Chinese violins that have the ability to imitate the tone and color of a human voice. Come join us in Speaking Strings Utter Things at the Vancouver Chinese Garden located in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown neighborhood as the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble performs in a multi-cultural, multi-theatrical evening with members of the Fictionals Comedy Co.

Hear from the ancient instruments themselves as they are showcased in humor – speaking, weaping, singing and squealing in delight.

The evening’s program will feature interdisciplinary selections that tell of the influences of China and experiment with improvised acting. Come experience a never seen before performance as our artists dub voice-overs to scenes and create sound effects using traditional Chinese instruments!
