They are a renowned Korean ensemble that masterfully combines traditional Korean folk melodies with shamanistic rhythms, creating a sound that transcends borders. Celebrated for their innovative approach, SE:UM brings their globally acclaimed performances, featuring tracks from their latest albums, "The Sense of Water" and "Korean Breath: Ten Thousand Waves".

About Korean Cultural Centre Canada:

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) is a co presenter of Se:um and Jasmine Jazz. KCC is a government institution established in September 2016 under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada. The mandate of the KCC is to enhance Korea-Canada relations by promoting mutual understanding between Koreans and Canadians through the sharing of Korean culture, and facilitating bilateral cooperation between arts and cultural institutions.

About Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society:

Formed in 1989, Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble (VCME) is the first professional Chinese music group formed in North America. Concert programs draw from a vast repertoire of classical, popular and contemporary music that embraces both Chinese and Western musical traditions. Participating in the Se:um and Jasmine Jazz collaboration, 2024 will mark the 35th anniversary of Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble and the 25th anniversary of the Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society.

About Vancouver Independent Music Centre Society (VIM):

VIM is a non-profit, charitable organization that supports Se:um and Jasmine Jazz as a presenter. VIM was established in 2011 with a mandate to develop a well-designed, central, accessible, sustainable and culturally diverse music centre. In 2018, the City of Vancouver passed zoning at the Plaza of Nations to include a 20,000 square foot music centre based on the VIM’s vision and plans.

This event is produced by Caravan World Rhythms, the Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society and the VIM with support from Canadian Heritage, Government of BC, Metro Vancouver, the Korean Canadian Cultural Centre and the JTS Heersink Foundation.
