Fiddles Around the World, which was the first concert of the series presented on October 3, 2010. A concert for all audiences, the performance showcased an exciting collection of multicultural Fiddles. This concert features innovative performances on bowed instruments. The evening was emceed by renowned linguist Dr. Jan Walls and feature Jirong Huang, our musical director on Erhu, Tom Neville on Western Fiddle and Baljeet Singh on Dilruba accompanied by the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble and Amarjeet Singh on Tabla. Each of these ethnic instruments were be presented in solo performance, displaying technique and skill to traditional songs and also performed in non-traditional arrangements making new music with bows and fiddles. The most notable moment of the night was the result of the creative space provided by this unique opportunity. The final piece was a collaborative improvisation, displaying a beautiful dialogue between the fiddles, accompanied by a marimba, ruan and guzheng. Aside from our targeted listeners, this event attracted audiences from the local community in Chinatown, Strathcona, Downtown and the Southeast Asian community and was a success as an outreach concert. We will continue by presenting our second and final concerts of the series in the following year.

溫哥華中華樂團將於2010 年 10月3日 星期天 晚上7時 , 舉行世界弦樂演奏會。 音樂會以 二胡 大師 黃繼榮 的表演為主,並特別邀請 印度提琴 演奏家Baljeet Singh,和加拿大的提琴演奏家Tom Neville,共同演出 多元化世界弦樂器。

另外還有三位溫哥華中華樂團的古箏演奏家李煒,木琴演奏家布魯斯, 和阮琴演奏家于志敏 的演奏。通過音樂會聽眾將可以欣賞到演奏者的精湛技藝和令人驚嘆的旋律。節目由Dr Jan Walls 介紹演出

弦樂器最初出现在紀元前3000 年, 在印度神話裹被描述為Ravanahatha。 並¬從印度的文化中心傳播到中國,通過 亞洲再傳到歐洲、非洲再到西方國家。 演奏會中各種弦樂器將會獨奏表演,也會合奏演出 。 顯示各種樂器的傳統技術和創新的技巧。
